What happened so far
Here are some of the most important milestones of Athletes for Ukraine, but by no means all.
20.08.2022 – Sport Connects event in Ruhpolding.
1.8. “Menschen brauchen Menschen” Foundation of german invest advice present a cheque for EUR 150,000.
As from 30 CW 2022 - Our own Athletes For Ukraine trucks are on the road bringing relief supplies to Ukraine, especially to the Kharkiv region.
16.07.2022 – The club is honoured at the “Ball des Sports” in Wiesbaden.
Since may 2022 – Charity Partner of the Alpen Film Festival, to which the proceeds from 23.6.2022 will be donated.
15.6. – 15 pallets of relief goods were delivered to Ukraine together with logistics partners.
12.6. - 14.6. – Information stand and press conference at the Outdoor by ISPO.
14.5. – „Sport connects“ action in Siegsdorf with Vanessa Hinz and Markus Eisenbichler.
11.5. – Start of the support campaign for the Chernihiv Regional Specialised Children's and youth School, founded by Alexander Batyuk, world champion in cross-country skiing in 1982, and some well-known athletes were trained at this school, which was completely destroyed in the first days of the war.
6.5. – Maren Hammerschmid and Thomas Wick receive a donation cheque for € 30,000 from JOKA/JORDAN in Kassel, the largest single donation to date.
30.4. – Fundraising at the Burgfeld Run in Rosenheim.
22.4. - 25.4. – Protest by South Tyrolean athletes at the leisure fair in Bolzano.
15.4./16.4. – Relief transport to the Polish-Ukrainian border with a total of 22 minibuses fully loaded with relief supplies, 14 of them from Bavaria and 8 from Thuringia. Return journey with almost 100 refugee women and children. Among them were some female athletes who trained with Tobias Angerer in Traunstein on 17.4.
6.4. – Launch of the "Sport connects" campaign to integrate refugee children in Germany through sport in local clubs. The kick-off event was held on the Day of Sport in Prien am Chiemsee, with Felix Loch, Vanessa Hinz, Martin Braxenthaler, Fritz Fischer and others.
1.4./2.4. – Relief transport to the Polish-Ukrainian border with 7 vehicles.
25.3. – Club member Francesco Friedrich was presented as a partner at the Eurojackpot event in Chemnitz and named Athletes for Ukraine as the addressee of the “€ 5,000 Möglichmacher” prize.
23.3. – Protest during the UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-final FC Bayern - Paris Saint-Germain at Allianz Arena.
18.3./19.3. – First aid transport to the Polish-Ukrainian border with 8 minibuses, fully loaded with relief supplies. Return journey with 46 fled women and children.
19.3.+20.3. –An Athletes for Ukraine video is running at the Ski Flying World Cup in Oberstorf.
20.3. – Olle Dahlin, President of the IBU, and the German national biathlon team also protest against the war at the World Cup in Oslo.
13.3. – First requests for help from athletes from Ukraine.
13.3. – At the Biathlon World Cup in Otepää/Estonia, coaches + athletes protest against the war wearing our club shirts.
12.3. – A show on ZDF, "Das aktuelle Sportstudio" shows the club logo in the background during a talk with Alyona Savchenko.
9.3. – First action with "We set a sign". We call on top athletes to protest with their hands crossed over their hearts. Many athletes join in and send us their photo, e.g. Felix Loch.
7.3.2022 – First report about Athletes for Ukraine in the Swedish press thanks to founding member Wolfgang Pichler.
6.3. – Foundation of Athletes for Ukraine e.V. by 54 members from 5 nations.
